World Mental Health Day 10th October – Recharge your batteries

Eat, sleep, work, repeat. Is everyday life leaving you drained? You’re definitely not alone. In today’s fast-paced world, being busy seems like something to be proud of, and finding the time to rest and recharge is becoming more and more difficult. But it’s so important. Between working all day, eating on the run, and having little time for fun and relaxation, how else can you possibly feel but exhausted? Feeling, tired and worn-out isn’t healthy – it can leave you less productive, and unhappy. Looking after your mental health is crucial for keeping anxiety, stress and depression at bay.

If you’re facing everyday exhaustion, it might help to take some steps to recharge your personal battery. Over and above the following tips we’re going to share with you below, it’s important to look to nature and natural supplements to aid and assist you in achieving a calm mental state. VitaminMe’s Anxiety Relief + De-Stress combines Ashwagandha, L-Theanine and Lemon Balm. These are mother nature’s finest ingredients to help alleviate anxiety and promote a calm state of mind. Once these things are under control, you can really live life, be present and nurture your mindset.

Taking care of your body can make it easier to recharge your mind. Here are some tips to help you restore your mind and body:

Take a long, hot bath

Add some candles and aromatherapy oil while you’re at it, or try using Epsom salts. These salts can help remove toxins and reduce inflammation linked to stress. Try and switch off during your bath, and not overthink the stresses and strains of the day. Afterwards, climb into bed and read a book!

Eat well

What you eat is directly linked to your energy levels, which is linked to mental wellbeing. Eating badly, and feeling more tired than you should will result in mood swings and unnecessary anxiety. Try balance complex carbohydrates and vegetables with lean proteins and healthy fats at each meal.

Exercise

You’ve heard it before and we’ll reiterate it again, and again. When you’re exhausted, it can be tempting to just sit in front of the TV after a long day, but that usually just makes you feel more tired. The best thing to do is to move! A brisk walk around the block or a quick spin on a bike will leave you feeling energised, and happy. VitaminMe’s Energy + Mood contains B12 and Folic acid which are both ingredients that can help boost your natural energy production too.

Get more sleep

Sleep is the ultimate body recharger. Experts recommend 7-9 hours of sleep a night for adults aged between 25 – 65. Any less than this and you’re running the risk of impacting your mental health negatively. If you struggle to sleep, try get yourself into a regular sleep/wake cycle, this will in turn improve your circadian rhythm resulting in longer, more restorative sleep. Alternatively, natural supplements can help induce relaxation and help you sleep, Lemon balm in Anxiety Relief + De-Stress is key in reducing stress and promoting sound sleep.

Recharge mentally: Mental is just as important as physical

It’s important to pay attention to your mind. Thinking about the things that stress us out often makes it harder to recharge.

October is Mental Health Awareness month, a time where we are more mindful of the state of our mental health, and that of others. There is widespread stigma and discrimination towards those suffering from mental health conditions, and to make this situation worse, often those who suffer are unaware, and as a result, remain untreated.

Nurturing a healthy outlook, reducing stress and paying attention to the things that serve us, and eliminating the things that don’t is key to achieving a calm state of mind and a happy disposition.

VitaminMe observes Mental Health Awareness month and reminds you to take deep breaths, and look after your mind, body and soul.
